Today it was announced that the video game adaptation of the popular tabletop game Warhammer Quest will be released on PS4 and Xbox One at the end of the month.
Originally released by Games Workshop as a board game in 1995, Warhammer Quest takes place in the fantasy Warhammer world. The game adaptation, developed by Rodeo Games, came out on Steam in January 2015, but now indie publisher Chilled Mouse is bringing the title to console.
As a top-down, turn-based strategy RPG, Warhammer Quest allows you to control a mixture of unique fantasy characters, such as the Wood Elf and Dwarf Ironbreaker.
The aim of the game is to explore dungeons in search of loot, and battle the enemies who cross your path. Fighting foes earns you experience, which you can use to gain new abilities, blessings, and spells for your heroes. There’s also the more relaxed aspect of discovering and travelling through settlements.
Warhammer Quest is currently available on mobile and PC, with a majority of positive reviews summing it up as simple yet engaging. However, many reviewers recommend that you play the mobile version, since the PC version includes a lot of pay-to-play content.
Chilled Mouse has said that the digitally distributed console version “has all the additional content that was released separately on other platforms included”, but they have not said whether it will be pay-to-play DLC or not.
